NAVY-MARINE CORPS RELIEF SOCIETY DISASTER/ASSISTANCE

If an evacuation order is given, NMCRS may provide up to $300 as an interest-free loan for a single individual or up to $600 for a family, pending reimbursement by the government. The loan is provided to assist with gas, food and lodging. The loan and the allotment are re-evaluated after the disaster has passed and personnel return to the Base. Allotments are postponed for three months in order to see if government orders were issued and funds are made available to help pay for the evacuation. All clients receiving disaster assistance are encouraged to return for re-evaluation of the loan within the three months period. They should understand that based on their ability to repay the no interest loan the re-evaluation could have three possible outcomes: no change in the allotment; partial or full conversion to a grant; and/or extension of the repayment period to fit within their budget.

NMCRS office will remain open as long as Base CO allows or until we have to evacuate ourselves. If an evacuation order is given on a weekend, NMCRS will be open to accommodate evacuees who are in need of funds as long as possible.
